FM 268C Preamplifier to Start the Year 2020!

By Dato' Danon Han on Saturday, January 25, 2020

As most Chinese know that we are celebrating Chinese New Year (2020). Thus, we are having a short holiday. What better to spend some time playing with one’s audio system, after some good fellowship with love ones. It’s been sometimes since I last played with the Linearizer feature of the FM 268C. Playing with the linearizer feature is like riding …

The Music Hall of an Audio Reviewer!

By Dato' Danon Han on Friday, January 24, 2020

Here, is the home of one of our local reviewer. Mr. Foo has been an audiophile like ever since… (Magneplanar 3.6 speakers) …and of course, a music lover that frequent ‘LIVE’ performances at concert, philharmonic, etc… He admitted to me with a big smile that irrespective of how great an audio set up maybe, it would never come close …

By Dato' Danon Han on Monday, January 13, 2020

After some considerations and opportunity presented themselves, the owner ‘Tee’ plunged into the ownership of the TechDas Air Force 3 turntable. I was told that it would not be the final upgrade?!

    Audiophile at Work! (4)

By Dato' Danon Han on Wednesday, January 8, 2020

The importance of a treated audio room/space has been the issue discussed. Some audiophile believed that the audio room/space should be lightly treated only. They suggested (thin) carpeted wall and a thin rug on the floor. The importance was the size of the room/space. Personally, I preferred and encouraged a properly treated audio room/space.

    Audiophile at Work! (3)

By Dato' Danon Han on Tuesday, January 7, 2020

Audiophile helps one another (if possible). Here, we have the gang helping a fellow vinyl-phile with his turntable set up. First off, they have to level the turntable. Then level every other components in the analogue source. Then bring out the alignment tools. After some hours (about 2 hours) of up and down…finally the turntable was about to spin some …

    Another Veteran Audiophile’s Approach.

By Dato' Danon Han on Friday, January 3, 2020

Our final destination landed at an experienced audiophile, Mr.Phan’s home. He is an audiophile with a number of audio years under his belt. However, he did not carry himself as such. Instead he asked for some guidance or a few pointers to improve his audio set up. He is indeed wiser than most?! As time was pushing, we got straight …

    Audiophile at Work! (2)

By Dato' Danon Han on Tuesday, December 31, 2019

To start off 2020, our local audiophile have been treating their audio room. Many realized that echo, standing waves, bass boom, etc were killing the quality of sound reproduction! A bit of money spent! Some trial and error! (With) A better pair of audiophile ears! And a better understanding and appreciation of higher audio fidelity… …the better tuned and treated …

By Dato' Danon Han on Tuesday, December 31, 2019

I got these photos of a local audiophile’s latest acquisition. They are the Wilson Audio Alexandria Loudspeakers. They used to be the flagship model of Wilson Audio. After a few iterations / models of the same model, Wilson Audio launched their new flagship, The WAMM 2. However, to many audiophile, the Wilson Audio Alexandria is very much a flagship loudspeakers …

By Dato' Danon Han on Friday, December 27, 2019

(Immedia RPM 2 Turntable) I was curious to know how an electronically learned person set up his audio system. (Clearaudio Insider MC Phono Cartridge) The owner of the above audio set up is Mr.Gan of Ipoh. (ARB Tonearm) He is well known in his local audiophile community as the Go-To Technician. (BMC CD Transport) His invitation to me and the …
