So out came the action scenes.
The ๐ก๐จ๐ฆ๐ ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฆ๐ ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ of Audio Den is equally serious.
At the heart of the visual system is the ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐-๐๐๐, JVCโs flagship laser projector of its generation, professionally calibrated to ๐๐๐ / ๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ by ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ข๐ ๐ง๐ฌ. In a room of this calibre, getting the picture right is every bit as important as getting the sound right โ accurate colour, gamma, contrast and overall image balance all contribute to the experience.
On the audio side, the cinema is built around a ๐๐ฒ๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐๐-๐๐, with 4x ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐ฏ๐ loudspeakers (RP: RM10,400) handling the surrounds and ๐&๐ speakers deployed overhead.
But the low-frequency system is where things move into another territory altogether.
The ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐ฐ๐จ๐จ๐๐๐ซ ๐๐ซ๐ซ๐๐ฒ includes ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐๐๐๐-๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ as kicker subs (each of dual 18-inch drivers), together with the massive ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ handling the ๐ข๐ง๐๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ข๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ง๐๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง โ the physical energy was on another level.
During an ๐๐ฑ ๐๐ข๐ฏ fighting sequence of punches and impacts, you could literally feel the energy through the room and see the drivers working. At one point we joked that ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐๐ ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ซ๐ ๐ญ๐ก๐๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฒ ๐ ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ก๐ข๐ญ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ฆ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐. ๐
Behind the joke was something quite seriousโฆ
It wasnโt simply about โmore bassโ.
It was about ๐ข๐ฆ๐ฉ๐๐๐ญ, ๐ฐ๐๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ and ๐ฌ๐๐๐ฅ๐ โ while still ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง๐ญ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ญ๐ซ๐จ๐ฅ, remaining ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ ๐ข๐ฅ๐.
Dialogue stayed extremely clear and locked to the screen, and the phantom-centre image created by the ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐ฉ๐ก๐จ๐ง ๐๐๐๐ was something I don’t recall experiencing at this level of authority and scale during my working life.
There is a difference between simply being loud, and having ๐๐๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ฌ ๐๐ฒ๐ง๐๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ.
And this was definitely the latter..
At that point Dato’s joke about needing a ๐ฌ๐๐๐ญ๐๐๐ฅ๐ญ started making quite a bit of sense, after sitting there, I understand what he meansโฆ.”
