I remembered listening to a Patricia Barber album in R2R tape that got me hooked to the format. Listening to this confirmed that the R2R has more ambience, air, articulation, detail and energy than its digital siblings, even though it was recorded digitally. Ultimately, it is audibly more lively and “you are there”.
