Another audio set up centered on a pair of vintage JBL L300 speakers,…
Apparently, to my pleasant surprise, there is a strong JBL following in Malaysia!
I believed that there is also a good following on vintage Marantz tube electronics.
Here, the owner, Gary Lee owned the Marantz 8 tube amplifier,…
…and it’s favorite partner, the Marantz 7 tube preamplifier.
I was told that some of them vintage audio gears followers preferred that their source components too have to be of vintage pedigree.
He used a studio grade or professional CD player from Studer, model 732,…
…and the turntable of choice, Thorens 124 with a Decca Tonearm and it’s accompanying Cartridge.
The audio room was very inviting and comfortable with good ratio.
Therefore, without any illusion, the sound presentation was equally inviting.
The soundstage was wide and deep thus a believable scale of proportion was presented.
The details were there…
…with illusions and imaging of musicians…
…and strong center staging.
I realized that Gary is also a big fan of Shun Mook tuning products.
The wonderful audio presentation that I have heard was the result of the Shun Mook tuning devices being rightly placed,…
…and tuned by the owner and his friends. I believed that many man hours were spent!
As could be seen, Gary has paid equally good attention and money to the power supply and delivery to all his audio components.
That resulted in the low noise level, thus good intimate detail in the audio presentation.
Ultimately, for me, I enjoyed the listening session and appreciated Gary’s passion in our beloved hobby…
…the end result proved them all…BRAVO!
